September was a Massively Monochromatic month! A challenging exercise as mass is not always well understood among ikebana artists and many find a monochromatic colour pallete to be a little restrictive.
It’s VERY late in the month of October to making the winner announcement for September however I had my hands a bit full with organising and running a major exhibition and then right on the heels of that, having a relative visit from overseas. The exhibition was a tremendous success and the visit from our overseas relative was truly wonderful but it all left me with very little focus for the monthly challenge!
That being said let’s get straight into things, only 6 people participated in this monthly challenge which was a little dissapointing but the arrangements that were received were very fine and quite interesting interpretations on the theme. I suspect we are at the end of the year where people are very busy and trying to balance work, life and family committments along with ikebana practice and that has become a bit of a stretch. I also acknowledge that this time around I didn’t allow for a lot of time between the announcement of the challenge and when submissions were due. So perhaps there were only a few entries due to those factors.
All that being said though, please see the entries that were received, below.
And the winner of the September Challenge is: Lucio Farinelli
Congratulations to Lucio Farinelli! This arrangement made beautiful use of materials combining the celosia and dahlias in a charming and jaunty manner, vivaciously connecting with the colours used on the container itself. Well done Lucio
A sincere thank you to all contributers
Please do keep your eye out for the challenge for November which will be announced with a call for entries very soon. November will be the final challenge for the year so look out for it and be sure to submit an entry!.
